The “Lost Dreams on Canvas” program was organized by Museum of American Art to memorialize young people who were victims of violence in their communities. Selected artists voluntarily paint the portraits of the deceased youngsters, which are exhibited in various locations around the United States before being presented to the child’s parents. In Philadelphia, the program has collaborated with anti-drug campaigns to educate the public about the dangers of drugs and violence and their affects on young people.
